Christchurch & Kaikoura

On the first of January all the Swedes flew down to Christchurch on the south island. We had real problems getting the rental car from Budget we had booked and paid for as they had only reserved one car instead of two. After me and mum talking about the press and the CEO of the firm a car was however all of a sudden on the parking lot behind the airport.

From Christchurch we continued north to Kaikoura where we were hoping on swimming with the dolphins. Unfortunately it was really windy so the boat could not depart. We did however have an awesome day sunbathing and watching the seal colony and the shags on a small peninsula. The best thing about Kaikoura is the relatively warm weather where you can swim and watch all sorts of mammals with stunning snow covered mountain views. We stayed at a place called the Lazy Shag which was really new and nice.
